…a little taste of heaven

I somehow managed to talk Ryanne into letting me purchase an eenie-weenie bottle of wine that cost more than I care to share here. Why was this wine so important? Well because it is a once-a-year phenomonon known as Ice Wine. Having to adhere to strict guidelines to be labeled as Ice Wine, it’s quite expensive. The grapes must be harvested at a, you guessed it, extremely low temperature to be classified as Ice Wine.

yummy

So was it worth it? Abso-freakin-lutely. This was one of the smoothest wines I’ve ever had the delight of tasting. I’m no wine expert, so I don’t think I could really describe it properly, but it was sweet, almost like a Riesling, but without the fizziness, and very light bodied. This particular wine is a 2003 Bergmann Beerenauslese Late Harvest Sweet White Wine, obviously it’s out of Germany. I wanted to get a Canadian Ice Wine, but they were all much more expensive.

So if you like wine, I’d suggest giving this a shot, I found this bottle at the Andersons.
