…a taste of the redwoods
i almost didn’t go down to the redwoods today. i was really feeling convicted to stick around in medford and continue hanging out with the incredible people i’ve been able to live with. almost… didn’t… go…
i’ve been blessed to be able to go to a lot of beautiful places in my life. i spent a month in hawaii, i’ve been up and down the east coast, i’ve been sailing in st. thomas, i’ve been to a mind-blowing rental on a small island in the bahama’s, i’ve been to grand cayman, cozumel, ocho rios, dominican republic, nassau, chicago, myrtle beach, hocking hills, and a variety of other places i’m sure i’ll regret not mentioning.
all of them pale to what i saw today.
and, here’s the thing. there is nothing, nothing i can write, nothing i can show you that will do this place justice. nothing. people much smarter, much more creative, much more eloquent than me have tried, and now i know they failed too, to write about, photograph, and film places this beautiful. truly, you must experience it yourself. i’ve been trying to come up with a word strong enough to describe it for the last six hours, and nothing sticks. the best word is “holy.” and i arrived on it because it’s about as good as it gets.
and here’s the real kick in the junk, a place this beautiful… it was put here just for me. it was put here, on this earth for you, and for everyone to enjoy. god created this beauty for us to take in… think about that for a second…
anyway… here’s the best i could do. i didn’t spend really any time at all in post production on these, because frankly i don’t think there is anything i can add to them.
oh, and honestly, i haven’t decided if i’m even going to put these in my print store… i don’t know, it’s just something i’m working out right now…

WOW these are awesome i like how the light shines in all of them great job again.
ooohhh… the one of the right and left looking up, i like that!
this post brought tears to my eyes and made my throat choke up. the pictures are breathtaking…. and pictures don’t even do it justice do they? it just cannot be done. you HAVE TO see it in person to fully understand.
SO SO GLAD you went today! SO GLAD!
I have been following your trip somewhat due to Mandy. LOL
I was raised in the Redwoods. To me that is what trees were all about. Can you imagine my surprise when I moved to Reno and their idea of a tree is sagebrush? LOL Actually I think that is the state flower but you get what I am saying. LOL
You are right though there are no real words to describe their majesty. Great photos. I can’t wait to look through more things on your site.
These are great photos
I like the light coming through the trees too. Nicely captured
What would be the chance of getting a 1440×900 version of the 2nd one for my desktop wallpaper?? Pleeeease?
these are incredible. thank you for sharing your holy moment with us.
thanks everyone.
adam – let me think about it… but that shouldn’t be a problem.
WOW! I seriously need to slow down the next time I drive out to the coast! Thanks for drawing my attention to the beauty I am surrounded by!
Wow, these are gorgeous!! I love the first two, well done with the light. I’ve lived in Southern California for a year and a half now and we are finally planning on going to the Redwoods this Spring. I can’t wait!
