…adventures in food

Today was a great day.

Woke up this morning and headed to Wildwood Metro Park for my daily exercise. Ryanne went her own way, since she has started jogging, and I headed off to the red 2.3 mile trail. It’s an absolute nightmare… hills everywhere. Nevertheless, I completed it in a timely (for me anyway) manner and I was quite proud of myself.

Came home and made some pancakes, eggs, and hash browns for lunch (since it was already 11am, the high calories were ok, since this was being counted as breakfast & lunch). We used this pure blackberry puree we got from the Perrysburg Farmers Market last week for syrup (only 15 calories per tablespoon), and it was absolutely delicious.

Normal HotnspicyFor dinner, we had BBQ Pork Chops and green beans. We got the meat from the Meat Market in the Andersons, and the BBQ sauce from Grandma Coyote, a vendor at the Perrysburg Farmers Market as well. This is, no joke, the best BBQ sauce I’ve ever had. It is unbe-freakin-lievable. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone check it out. Their website is nothing to cheer about, but you can at least buy some sauce from it.

434193388- OI also picked up a bottle of wine at The Andersons for a chicken dish I’m making later in the week. It’s a riesling called “Clean Slate.” I’m a sucker for great labels and branding, so this company got me right away. I was happy to learn later when I got home that the wine actually won an award for best riesling last year, so I’m hoping the wine will be as good as the bottle! I’ll let you know Wednesday when we make the dish.
