…all i want for christmas (eleven of thirty-six)

ladies and gentlemen, may i present you with my most outlandish christmas wish to date; a house!

ryanne and i were planning on moving in a week or so. we had found a perfect little home to rent, that had the distinct disadvantage of being currently populated by one of ryanne’s best friends leah and her husband jay. jay is in the army (or just graduated anyway), and they were going to leave when jay got his base-orders for somewhere.

well, some things changed, and now even though ryanne and i have half of our apartment packed up, paint purchased, landlords notified, and rip-roaring ready to go… we don’t have any place to go.

now don’t get me wrong, first and foremost i’m happy that leah and jay are sticking in the area for a little while longer. and when or if jay gets deployed to iraq, that is of course the most important thing. so, it’s a bittersweet situation to be sure.

nevertheless, ryanne and i are left in an apartment full of boxes, wondering what our next move is going to be. we are fairly positive we can stay where we are for a while longer (even though we were REALLY looking forward to a smaller rent-check). we can also start looking again for a new place to move, even though we don’t want to move just for the sake of moving.

we were stoked about this house, because it just made a lot of sense. about a mile away from my work, a tiny five-minute skip to ryanne’s work, in a house (which meant ryanne and i felt comfortable to have children, which we don’t in an apartment), and of course the smaller rent.

today was a lesson in “life happens.” or better yet, that old cliche’ saying of “if you want to make god laugh, tell him your plans.”

but again, i want to say that first and foremost we are happy about at least leah sticking around for a while, and our prayers are definitely with leah and jay right now.
