…an update on the weight loss

yes, i am aware of the fact that i haven’t talked much about the weight loss journey recently. other than highlighting the fact that i’ve lost seventy pounds, it hasn’t really been a topic on this site. this has nothing to do with my recent political slant (which has everything to do with the fact that this only happens once every four years and it’s the most historic election ever), but rather it has everything to do with me just trying to walk the walk, rather than talk the talk.

don’t get me wrong, i’m all about sharing the journey. but over the course of the last year i have learned that everytime i come on here and write a manifesto about how this time it’ll be different and how i’ve finally got the master plan on how to achieve my goals, everything goes to crap. so i’m trying something new… something very difficult for me…

…not talking about it. (as much)

here’s where i’m at now: last week i only lost one pound. i blame this on me. i thought i had a really good week with eating, but i didn’t work out that hard. i still should have lost more weight. i have no idea what happened other than perhaps i just had a lot of water weight that day. who knows. i’m down to 339.1 now, and i’ve had a couple great work outs with heather this week, and have been absolutely on point with my diet, so i’m hoping for a good day on monday.

also, i have a new goal. i want a “two” at the beginning of my weight by halloween. it’s audacious. it’s big. it’s extreme. it’s going to be hard. that’s 38 pounds in 43 days. i understand that it’s going to be difficult. i am starting to feel like it’s time to go up another level though.

i did another check on my bmr today. it’s kind of sad (in a weird way) that as i lose weight, the calories my body burns naturally continues to go down. meaning that it’s going to be harder and harder for me to lose large quantities of weight at a time. for the first time, i’m burning less than 3000 calories a day naturally. this only means i must work harder at exercising and watching what i eat.

in other good news, i checked my BMI again yesterday. while i understand it’s not the greatest indicator of overall health, i’m still pumped that i have knocked over ten points off that thing since i started. my original BMI was 54.1, today it’s 43.5. that’s pretty impressive, no matter how you slice it.

First off, congrats on the weight loss so far. I am in this journey with you (at least for the last 16 weeks), and I have had pretty good success with it. All I am doing is jogging and eating better.

About the eating part, I have been following the WeightWatchers plan, and it works beautifully, and it’s super easy. I don’t actually go to meetings or anything since that costs $$, but the overall plan. I “officially” did WW several years back, so I still have the knowledge.

Shoot me an email if you want to give it a try and I’ll share what I know. And either way, keep going strong!
