…are you freakin’ kidding me?

ryan seacrest: “performing ‘always be my baby,’ david cook!”

me: “are you freakin’ kidding me?”

me approximately two minutes later: “holy hell. that was incredible.”

i haven’t gotten to this yet this week, my apologies. but for those of you who watch american idol, can anyone seriously disagree with the fact that david cook is just completely out-working every other contestant there? not a single other contestant consistently comes out and delivers an original, powerful, and always good (not always great, but more often than not) performance. now, i know that at least one of david cook’s “original” performances has been a cover of a cover… nevertheless, he is the most original person on that show.

if the winner of american idol was crowned by how hard the contestant worked, and how bad a contestant “wanted it,” it would be over already. you cannot tell me that any other contestant wants it this bad, or is working as hard, you just can’t.

sure, david a. has that smooth silky voice, and may grow up to be a better vocalist. carly and brooke both have a great set of pipes, and jason castro is a mini jack johnson. but david cook is absolute money. before paula even said anything, i was thinking to myself during the performance (video below) that this song will end up in a movie or tv show soundtrack someday.

this was undoubtedly the most brilliant performance i’ve ever seen on american idol. tell me you disagree with me (and why)… i dare you.

I WISH I could disagree with you… but I can’t! If DC doesn’t win this year’s AI, I will permanently boycott - seriously! They should just stop the show now, while they are ahead!

    NO DOUBT!!!! He Rocks!!!

I was actually in tears listening to him perform that. Blew. Me. Away!!!

I showed my kids Mariah’s version on Youtube afterward - yah - blew them away too!

okay, he is the best one in there now. talent…no doubt. But i think he has a little false humility/I’m really cool vibe that I can’t stand. anyways, Michael Johns was the best singer and he’s gone, but Cook definitely puts the work in.
