…all i want for christmas (fifteen of thirty-six)

detroit lions season tickets. ’nuff said.

don’t know how much next year’s price will be, but i think this years went for right around $400.

i know they’re horrible, but they can’t be that way forever!

767.jpgthis is actually my most reasonable christmas wish to date. i often check the website coffeereview.com to see what’s the hotness in the coffee world right now. i’ve had a number of the coffee’s they have reviewed, and i think they’re pretty spot on.

this one grabbed my attention the other day. i’ve always been a huge fan of the kenyan variety of coffee, so this is definitely something i am going to have to try.

this kenya kigutha from terroir coffee company scored a rating of 95 (out of 100), and the tasting notes — as quoted below — make me shiver with antici-pation…

Crisp, intense, yet sweetly lyric coffee. In both aroma and cup blackcurrant, blackberry, orange, cherry; in the cup hints of cocoaish chocolate and merlot-like red wine as well. Long, sweet finish just on the rich side of astringent.

oh yes. i will have to try this.

it is available (on sale even!) on terroir’s website for $11.95.

now, who really has never gotten lost?

for you married people, who among you have ever not got in a stupid spat about the best way to get from point a to point b?

the garmin gps navigator is the solution to at least a piece of marriage problems everywhere!

for the first time ever, a gadget (get your mind out of the gutter) can actually contribute to the happiness of marriage!  reason enough to buy it right there if you ask me.

seriously, ryanne and i both have been wanting one of these for a while. ryanne more than me, because she has a tendency to really freak out if she feels even remotely lost. really, i’ve been on the receiving end of a phone call in these situations before, and it’s not pretty… is it dear?

this little bad boy is available on amazon.com for the price of $215.97

i know i missed yesterday. i’ll make it up today or tomorrow.

today’s christmas wish item is a “…just because” item. i think it’s cool, and so will you!

the led faucet adapter… found on thinkgeek.com for a measly $12.99 - $19.99. for this low, low price you can bling out your kitchen or bathroom sink, now why wouldn’t you want that?

ladies and gentlemen, may i present you with my most outlandish christmas wish to date; a house!

ryanne and i were planning on moving in a week or so. we had found a perfect little home to rent, that had the distinct disadvantage of being currently populated by one of ryanne’s best friends leah and her husband jay. jay is in the army (or just graduated anyway), and they were going to leave when jay got his base-orders for somewhere.

well, some things changed, and now even though ryanne and i have half of our apartment packed up, paint purchased, landlords notified, and rip-roaring ready to go… we don’t have any place to go.

now don’t get me wrong, first and foremost i’m happy that leah and jay are sticking in the area for a little while longer. and when or if jay gets deployed to iraq, that is of course the most important thing. so, it’s a bittersweet situation to be sure.

nevertheless, ryanne and i are left in an apartment full of boxes, wondering what our next move is going to be. we are fairly positive we can stay where we are for a while longer (even though we were REALLY looking forward to a smaller rent-check). we can also start looking again for a new place to move, even though we don’t want to move just for the sake of moving.

we were stoked about this house, because it just made a lot of sense. about a mile away from my work, a tiny five-minute skip to ryanne’s work, in a house (which meant ryanne and i felt comfortable to have children, which we don’t in an apartment), and of course the smaller rent.

today was a lesson in “life happens.” or better yet, that old cliche’ saying of “if you want to make god laugh, tell him your plans.”

but again, i want to say that first and foremost we are happy about at least leah sticking around for a while, and our prayers are definitely with leah and jay right now.

ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on the beauty of the Harman Kardon Soundsticks II.

about a month and a half ago, ryanne and i somehow managed to fry our computer speakers. since then, we’ve been living off the on-board audio of our lcd monitor. to say the quality is lacking is quite an understatement.

mix that, with the fact that three months ago i sold our home theater system, and what you end up with is no music in the home for the white family. we’ve come to the conclusion that we’d rather have speakers for our computer than buy a stereo, because we both like internet radio, and the home computer will be centrally located in our new home.

i choose these speakers, not only because they are drop dead sexy looking, but because i like harmon/kardon’s products. everything i’ve owned from them in the past has sounded amazing, and i don’t think these would be any different.

these bad boys are on sale at amazon.com for a low-low price of just $107.90!

can’t do a picture this time, sorry.

photography is cool. you all should know i feel that way by now. i consider myself a contemporary, modern, maybe even a little “edgy” photographer. something i see other photographers doing that i absolutely adore the work of, is work with textures.

there’s a great set of textures here. they’re expensive, but if you visit the site and watch the before and afters, you’ll be amazed at what it can do.

i’ve been against slippers for a really long time. i’ve always felt like it was very unmanly to walk around the house with slippers on. i’ve since realized that there are few things more manly than a warm robe, some toasty slippers, a pipe, and a glass of scotch.

ok, so i don’t smoke a pipe, but i do like scotch… and i can always learn to like pipe tobacco.

either way, there is something very retro to me about it, and more importantly, i’d love for my little toe-sies (which are attached to my size thirteen boats) to be warm this winter.

these ridiculously overpriced slippers (although they do look comfortable) were recommended by a great many “manly” authorities including GQ and Maxim. the men’s twin gore sheepskin slippers can be found from minnetonka’s website for a price of $59.99.

because really, how can you put a price on comfort?
