…$456 billion (I *hate* Bush)

Have I mentioned how sorry I am for voting for Bush in ‘04?

In September, we will have spent $456 billion dollars on the war in Iraq. Curious about what we could have done with that money? Check out this link to the Boston Globe.

Most astonishing/depressing/angering? We could have fed all of Earth’s poor, as well as provided schooling for five years with that much money. Let’s fight a war we can win, ending world poverty.

I freakin’ hate George W. Bush.

2008 cannot possibly get here fast enough. I don’t care how republican or conservative you are… a 28% job approval rating (Newsweek Poll) is cause for alarm. This guy, will go down in history as the worst. president. ever.

…in a funk

A blogging funk anyway.

Even this post is going to be short and sweet.

Spider-Man 3 sucked.

…this is, american idol

It depends on what happens tonight.

Call me crazy.

But I honestly am starting to believe that if Phil can make it past tonight, he just MAY be able to win. I mean honestly, has anyone even come close to doing as well as he has the last three weeks? While everyone else’s stock seems to have either leveled off or is falling (Jordin was AWFUL last night, and Melinda hasn’t been anything special the last couple of weeks) with the exception of Blake — who by the way, absolutely KILLED that Bon Jovi song. Killed in a good way.

So that’s it, Phil is my new dark horse to win Idol. Of course, he could be voted off tonight and I could be a complete idiot.

…casual dress friday - II

On Fridays I will be here to update on the music I’ve been listening to, the TV I watched, books I’ve read, the movies I’ve seen, or the sports I’ve enjoyed in the last week. Without further ado…

Music
Been glued to Metallica still. Although I did spend some time on Tuesday rocking out to some Explosions in the Sky.

Television
Heroes! Yeah, it came back this week, and it was well worth the wait. The Idol Gives Back special finally showed up, and I thought it was pretty well done, except for the horrible Elvis/Celine Dion duet.

Books

Still working on finishing Soul Cravings. Unfortunately the new Relevant came on Thursday, and my attention has been diverted.

Movies
Again, no new movies this week. I did watch Rent again though… I love that movie

Sports
Since this is a day late, it’s safe to say that Pistons swept the Magic. HOLLA. And the Lions have chosen the career of Calvin Johnson to ruin. This years draft winner? The Cleveland Browns. Kudos to them for getting Joe Thomas AND Brady Quinn.

…heroes live-blog, and more

Heroes is back tonight. I decided to try a live-blog. Away we go!

9:05
Wow have I missed this show… I even missed HRG, this show so has me hooked. On a side note, anyone else think that shape-shifting girl is only here for sex-appeal? Seriously, why would a high profile, high security agency allow a uniform like that?

So, Linderman is a healer. Is he trying to blow up New York only to rebuild it, Demolition Man-style?

9:08
This show’s cinematography is beautiful… that shot of Parkman from above the fluorescent lights was an extremely nice touch.

9:10
Is Linderman “the architect” from The Matrix? He sure reminds me of him.

I was right… Linderman does want to rebuild. I’m so smart.

9:14
The Peter vs. Sylar showdown! I’ve been waiting for this for weeks!

9:17
Well that didn’t go as I expected, but nonetheless, I’m wondering if I have something wrong with me, some sort of hero-worship maybe. Because holy-hades, when Peter shoved of Sylar like he was a rag-doll and healed his forehead… I got goose-bumps. Peter is one bad mutha… I have a feeling Suresh won’t always have to save him.

9:28
Uhm… someone just needs to pull the glass out, and WHAM! Peter is back…

…right?

9:30 - Random Commercial Note:
I so want to see Hot Fuzz… those guys are hilarious

9:35

Ok, I like Fire-guy now… well, now that he is Fire/EMP-Guy

9:37
Claire knows what’s up… she’s going to get Peter all fixed up.

9:37:30
YES!!! Thank God, I don’t think I could have lived with Peter being dead already. The look on Nathan and Mama Petrelli’s faces is PRICELESS. Emmy’s all around!

Ok, that “You saved my life,” and “I guess we’re even now” was a little too emotionally charged for me. Claire can’t be any older than 17, and Peter, by my best guess is at least in his mid to late twenties. Please don’t let this go anywhere.

9:42

Peter: What do you do with something that killed you?”

Nathan: You put it under your bed.

hilarious.

9:45
Mama’s got some ’splainin’ to do!

9:47
I hate Jessica… really, I do. I’m tired of her, I don’t know how but Nikki needs to kick her butt back into the mirror. I can’t believe she really decided to go along with Linderman’s plan and “loan” out Micah.

9:47:15
…oh… I’ve been had. God this show is good.

9:51
Wow… Sylar is an idiot. There Isaac is, telling him the future can’t be fought… wouldn’t the smart thing to do then be NOT kill Isaac? Maybe that one small thing changed would alter the certain death that Sylar now knows is coming his way.

9:58
Nathan is now on my crap-list too… great model for dead-beat dads everywhere

9:59
I’m hoping the weird “green-face” Nathan that Sylar was painting at the end of the show is explained in a later episode, that was just plain creepy.

10:00
Gosh, this is right up there with Friday Night Lights for my favorite TV Show of this last season. The pacing, the cinematography, the writing, the acting.. all top notch. I can’t wait till next week. All in all, this was a great episode, and a very welcome one after the long break.

——————-

In other news, I changed over to Anderson Cooper 360 right after Heroes, only to see nine more Americans died today in Iraq due to a car-bomb. I’ll be praying for the families, again, tonight. It seems there is a lot to be praying for these days.

The 2008 Presidential Election cannot possibly get here fast enough. The war-monger-dictator NEEDS to go.
