…cedarcreek church and web 2.0

Within the next two weeks, we’re hoping to launch the new version (I’ve lost count of what version we’re at now) of the CedarCreek.tv website. Since we don’t have a full-time employee devoted to our website, the job falls on me to prepare and write content, as well as supervise the creation of the site with my boss; Brandon.

It’s ok though, I really quite enjoy doing this. I love having projects. I honestly believe a small part of the reason I’m all into this whole weight loss thing is that I’ve learned to view it as a “project.” I love having a huge goal that I need to reach, and this new website is about as big of a change from what we’ve been doing that I could have possibly imagined. We’re incorporating as much as we can of this new phenomenon called web 2.0. Creating a site that is more centered on human interaction, being clean, and extremely useful.

It’s going well so far. This week I finally get to start entering content into the site. It’s going to be a long, hard week. But for whatever crazy reason I’m looking forward to it. It’s an opportunity for me to get in “the zone” of working really hard, blaring some music through the headphones and creature speakers, and just pushing out all the external distractions.

The only thing I’m sad about, is that last time we did this huge revision, I spent most of my time working on the site from coffee-houses. Starbucks/Grounded/Panera provided less distractions than my home, and less interruptions than the office. Unfortunately, the money really isn’t there this time for me to get out of the office. I’ll just have to find creative ways to keep myself from getting distracted at the office. I think I may use my life-size cutout of Superman as a door to my office and just keep it closed all week ;-)

I think this is the 4th site we’ve done… I managed the first one back in the day… (2000) then we had the first re-write with that gray background from …. Doug? Then the second re-write is the current one… thus this would be the 4th edition.

Yeah… it’s becoming a bit of a phenomenon with church leaders. Here’s a small list of people on Facebook:

    Terry Storch
    Bobby Gruenewald
    Dave Ferguson
    Tony Morgan
    Tim Stevens
    Anne Jackson
    Kem Meyer
and oh, a guy named Ben Bockart ;-)

It’s just another cool way to network with people.
