…fast food nation
Just got done watching the last movie I’ll have delivered to my home from Blockbuster Online before I cancel the subscription. The movie was “Fast Food Nation” and while I know the book is quite different than the movie, I am still strongly convicted.
I can’t, for the life of me, ever see myself eating food from major fast food places again. Yeah, the process is disgusting, the food is crap (quite literally), but more than anything I agree with the guy (Eric Schlosser) who wrote the book and screenplay for the movie said; “It’s not that I don’t like the food, it tastes good. It really is as simple as I don’t want to give these people my money… because I’ve seen how they do business.”
If you have yet to see this movie, or prefer reading the book, I highly suggest doing so. I don’t want to spend a whole lot of time on a soapbox here today, but I cannot stress enough just how ridiculous the fast food industry has become.
In addition, there was a great quote in the movie from a college-student who was planning to cut a fence where cattle awaited slaughter for a major fast food company’s meat packing plant. They were talking about how the Patriot Act has made even things like this, freeing cattle (of course it’s illegal, I’m not saying otherwise) able to be considered as acts of terrorism, and that eco-protesters who have never hurt a soul are considered by some to be more dangerous than Al Qaeda. I’ll leave you with this quote…
“Well right now I can’t think of anything more patriotic than violating the Patriot Act.”
…amen to that.
