Woot! Congrats again! I think it’s all the reading you’ve been doing. I hear that burns braincells or something…

Mere Christianity is a fantastic book that I still don’t totally understand. Lots of knowledge. The thing that has always stuck with me is C.S. Lewis’ take on the severity of pride.

“After all, Pride is what made Satan Satan.”

great job dude! I’m sorry for giving you crap for not working out… I guess it worked for you. One point I think is important is that I truly believe that our physical “selves” are totally connected to our spiritual “selves.” I’m not going to get into it now, but it is something to think about. In my past, I have almost always been very shocked when I lost weight while on vacation or when I stop working out and I think I have figured out why this happens. 1. muscle weights more than fat 2. I read somewhere (can’t remember where) that for every 3 pounds of weight we lose, 1 pound of that is muscle. 3. when we don’t work out and when we have been building muscle we lose weight fast because for that time, we not only lose the fat that we have normally been losing, but also the muscle that we have been building. When the muscle starts to build again, we lose weight slower, because 1. muscle weights more than fat. Just a theory… I totally hope it keeps coming off fast for you bro!!!

Congrats on the loss my friend! The 9 pounds doesn’t shock me though… you are burning 5k or so a day and only taking in 1.6k ish…

    3.5k = 1 pound

So you’re burning over a pound a day in your calorie deficit alone. Over 7 days… 8 or 9 sounds about right. Exercise will definitely help keep your metabolism up and your energy levels up… and help you burn more calories on top of that…

I think another contributing factor to your lack of exercise was going to camp with the Jr. Highers and not exercising there… coming home can make it hard to get back into a routine like exercising. On top of that, you had come back to the Leadership Summit (super busy/stressful/time consuming) and were looking forward to vacation… just a bunch of “out of the grind” circumstances to shake up habits.

Had you been at work lately I would have asked you about it all, but alas… you are on your own for a couple weeks. :-P

I’m starting to see a difference in your face too.

Keep it up man… you’re like… 1/5 of the way there already. You’re a freaking machine!

Congrats big fella, soon to be little fella. Good job on the weight loss. The big numbers can be a result of a few different things that you talked about in the vBlog. 1) Coffee dehydrates, 2) Muscle stores glucose and when you stopped exercising your body purged that glucose from its muscles, 3) Your body burns calories more efficiently with what’s called ‘caloric cycling’ or varying your calories on a daily basis. This is why having low days (when you ate veggies at camp) and higher days (restaurant days) are actually better for losing massive weight than straight lining your calories daily.

All of these things add up to a great week. Enjoy it.

Also here is something for you to think about. To me the most important digit on the scale was always the second one. IE the 7 in 370.9 If you maintain your eating habits and throw in some exercise (or do two hours a day or just up your activity level ) between now and your next weigh in then you could completely skip the 360’s!

But your in a groove so unless you can get to the point where you use your exercise time for contemplation just keep doing what your doing.

    I can’t wait until your wife sees you sans 15 - 20lbs

    Whoah!
Comparing the vids from start to now, totally awesome. You truly are an inspiration Josh. And what a totally cool path you are on!

I noticed in today’s dance number Bruno was feeling rejected after you dumped him. See him in the background watching you go at it for the first few? He was like the wallflower at prom, (I love that word, “wallflower. Sounds almost nice eh? Much better than “that weird kid against the wall nobody would dance with. Hush, I was one of those…wait, in fact I still am. ) Finally Bruno could take the rejection no more and left. (or you gassed and he fled, not sure.)

Anyway my friend, your laser focus to this is a perfect example of “you can do anything you want if you set your mind to it.” In your case, not only have you set your mind, but it is clear you have set your heart as well. God Bless, and continued success.

    Ken

Ps. I agree with Pete, either take a camera or call the paparazzi to snap Ryanne’s face when she see’s you. Priceless.

I am sad. I can only view the comments. The ship does not have video access. Anyway, I am very proud of you and can’t wait to see the change. I love you and will see you Saturday night.
