The first national study of four common sexually transmitted diseases among girls and young women has found that one in four are infected with at least one of the diseases, federal health officials reported Tuesday.
wow. that’s incredible. take a room with four teenage females, and one of them (statistically speaking) has some sort of std. i don’t pretend to have the answers here, but i don’t think the blame can be put on any one entity. kids are idiots, parents aren’t educating their children, schools aren’t educating children (don’t even get me started on abstinence-only education… which is downright ridiculous), and kids are horny idiots.

“High S.T.D. infection rates among young women, particularly young African-American women, are clear signs that we must continue developing ways to reach those most at risk,” said Dr. John M. Douglas Jr., who directs the centers’ division of S.T.D. prevention.
developing ways to reach those most at risk? sure, here’s a great tip… teenagers, just keep your freakin’ pants on… really… it ain’t worth it
