…once
March 5, 2008 – 3:25 pm
is there any chance any of the people who check out this website have yet to see this movie? if so, write it down or something right now… you need to see it.
i’ve given up trying to come off as a “tough” guy or “man’s man,” because it’s just not me. don’t get me wrong, i believe very strongly in having some sort of masculinity, but i am not going to apologize anymore for being a “creative.” for those of you who have no idea what i’m talking about; artists, or creatives, tend to be more emotional, and passionate than the general population. and we generally take everything personally. it’s just the way we are.
all that being said, this movie, and mostly the music from it, just rocked me to the core. i can’t even begin to tell you fully why. this is certainly due to the fact that i’ve only seen the movie once through, but when i see it a few more times i’ll try and put into words just what this movie does for me. the music, and especially this song touches me on such a deep emotional level, it is quite possibly one of the most well deserved oscar winners i’ve yet seen.
check out the video below, read the lyrics, rent/buy the movie, buy the soundtrack.
I don’t know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can’t react
And games that never amount
To more than they’re meant
Will play themselves outTake this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You’ve made it nowFalling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I’m painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It’s time that you wonTake this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You’ve made it nowTake this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You’ve made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I’ll sing along

Man. What an amazing movie. The music was brilliant. I kept feeling like the movie was an 85 minute video of the whole album (which I will own very soon).
I loved their accents too. It’s just a feel good movie.
