…post cnn/youtube republican debate mind dump
November 28, 2007
- rudy came out looking weak and pathetic in my opinion. he spent most of the night personally attacking people.
- romney wasn’t much better, that whole exchange w/ huckabee about scholarships to children was ridiculous.
- why can’t politicians just answer a stupid question, instead of spouting off their tired rhetoric? this happens all the time, even in the democratic debates.
- best moment was when mccain attacked ron paul for his stance on the war, saying something along the lines of “i just had thanksgiving w/ the troops, and they have a message for you… let us win this war.” to which paul said very calmly “then tell me why i have the most active duty military personnel donating to my campaign?”
- ooo, i don’t know… huckabee’s answer to a stupid (leading, you could totally tell this guy just wanted to trip the people up) question about whether or not the candidates believed that every word of the bible was true. his response; “listen, of course i believe every word in the bible is true… it is the word of god. that being said there are things i do not understand, and there are things that i believe are interpreted differently. and i think what you’re getting at here is lines about plucking out your eye… my answer to that is why don’t we take care of the things that have no possible way of being interpreted any differently, love your neighbor…. instead of worrying about these hard to answer biblical questions” beautiful.
- i didn’t like huckabee’s answer on the death penalty. i thought the youtube question was brilliant though.
- it’s starting to get really catty. people were complaining about all the attacks at the democratic debate, that was like a tupperware party compared to tonight’s republican debate.
- i’m starting to consider becoming an independent. overall, i still like obama… but jeeze, huckabee and paul looked good tonight.
- they’re saying the winners of tonight’s debate was huckabee, mccain, and ron paul. interesting. i think i would have to agree, not necessarily in that order, but i agree with those three looking the best.
- fred thompson just looked like a lost kid. seriously, how are people supporting this man?
- who the frick is tom tancredo? duncan hunter? i didn’t even know these people existed before tonight.
- the pundits can’t stop talking about huckabee… i think that’s awesome. i love a good underdog story.
- i think of all the people who’ve hosted these debates that i’ve seen, anderson cooper is a very close second to keith olbermann in a job well done. i can’t stand wolf blitzer.
- and the interesting part… the dial testing results; huckabee’s comment on scrapping the irs (GO HUCKABEE) got the best response of the night, huckabee scored the second highest moment of the night as well on his crack about jesus being too smart to run for politics.
- good point, zero questions tonight about healthcare, education, iran, the environment, or alternative energy.

Solid review. I also thought Huckabee looked strong. I’m still up in the air, and like Obama myself, but man, there’s something about that guy…
Thanks for the review. I am a Ron Paul fan today, but also appreciate Huck. I am just glad we are not voting today.
J! No thoughts about the planted questions from you favorite network? The weird opening song dissing the candidates? I see you did mention the lack of sunstanative questions. Your network is becoming more of a joke by the day. Also will anyone really make their decision for President based on some of the dumb questions that were posed? The confederate flag one comes to mind. Who let that goofy question in? I will be glad when real debates return where a candidate can explain (or lie) about how they are going to do stuff like eliminate the IRS. Then you can make more informed decisions about your candidates.
