Twitter-sized Review:
No WiFi available. Low quality coffee. No Fair Trade or Organic options. Amazing atmosphere. Too bad… Score: 4/10

Completely Opinionated Review:
In today’s day and age, I am not sure I understand a coffee shop that does not have ANY WiFi available, let alone free WiFi. That being said, maybe it’s unfair to judge Chandler’s Café solely as a coffee shop, it’s more of a place to eat and meet than it is a place to spend a large quantity of time sipping coffee and working.

It’s unfortunate, though. Chandler’s has by far the best atmosphere I’ve been in yet. Exposed brick walls, black furniture, hardwood floors and a classic tin ceiling make this the most enjoyable coffee shop I’ve sat in yet. It has a lot of potential to become a long-term regular spot for me, and I’m sure others who have some of the same interests as me.

Chandler’s is located in the heart of Sylvania, and while street parking may be at a premium, there is ample parking available in the back. The café shares a space with a quirky little home gift shop, and has an immense amount of character as I’ve already described.

I ordered my house cup of coffee, and was given a paper cup of Seattle’s Best (a Starbucks offshoot) coffee. Chandler’s does not appear to offer refills, and there are no Fair Trade or Organic options. Finding a seat in the well spaced sitting area wasn’t a problem, and plugs on the wall led me to believe WiFi would be available. Unfortunately, I was shocked to open my laptop and find that there is no WiFi at all.

It really is too bad. I do love the atmosphere and location of this coffee shop. But as I said previously perhaps it’s unfair to even call Chandler’s Café a coffee shop to begin with. Looking around more people are eating than drinking, and while I think it’s very cool they have a number of beers on the menu, I’m just not looking for a place with good food and a beer option.

Final Grade:
4/10 – Really this should just be disqualified due to the lack of available WiFi, but I really do dig the feel of this place. I’m sure I’ll be back in the future when WiFi isn’t needed and/or I’m looking for a bite to eat. However I cannot imagine Chadler’s being a regular option for me with the guidelines I had previously set and really need. Additionally, the usage of the very coffee I’m trying to avoid, along with no Fair Trade or Organic options makes Chandler’s not a long-term coffee option for me.

Addendum:
Upon checking out Chandler’s website, I was surprised to see a logo “Free WiFi available.” It should be noted I am not a computer-idiot, but it’s completely possible I missed a sign telling me what the password was for their access point (which must have a non-descriptive name, since there was nothing that signified Chandler’s).
