Twelve Years, Unbelievable
This post is post number one thousand on loveisgreaterthan.com. This has by far and away been the longest running blog I’ve ever had, as I’ve now held this domain (previously loveisthemovement.com before gifting it to To Write Love on Her Arms) for roughly three years now. Before this, I was hosting a blogger site on my own domain, dreamgoat.com. Unfortunately, all those posts are lost.
I have been blogging now for twelve years. For the first six or so, I’m quite positive nobody read it. It was really just for me. Then over time gradually a few more people started reading, and there started to be some level of interaction when I moved to Xanga. But even then, it was all form people I knew through face-to-face connections. I still didn’t have anyone paying any attention to me outside of my personal circles.
I started on livejournal. Then self-hosted on houseofwang.net (I wouldn’t suggest visiting that site now, who knows where it’ll lead). Moved to diaryland. Then greatestjournal. And then blurty. Later xanga. Then blogger. Then self-hosted on dreamgoat.com. Then loveisthemovement.com. And now, finally, loveisgreaterthan.com.
What’s amazing is that thanks to being an early adopter, an awful lot of my original posts are still available. If you get super bored and want some great laughs my transition from rebellious imbecile to church-going Christian, I made the links above to take you to the old posts.
So I just wanted to say thanks. I’ve learned a lot these last twelve years, and I don’t see any signs of stopping in the future. I seldom feel like I have anything important to say anymore, so I truly appreciate those of you who still come around =).
Grace and Peace,
- JW
(edit – I decided at the last minute linking those old posts isn’t a good idea. I said a lot of offensive things when I didn’t think people were reading =))

Lucky for us, some people read the same blogs out of habit. I think we call them "friends"….interesting or not, they keep coming back :D.
Wow, you were blogging before I think it was even called that. In 1998, I was just figuring out what this internet stuff was all about. I connected through Prodigy and had my email through Juno.
