that little “A” marker, that’s where i’ll be a week from today. seven days from now i’ll be flying in to portland, oregon. i’ll be getting a rental car, and unless some shoots get booked up near portland, i’ll be driving down to medford. i’ll be staying for five nights with some pretty great internet people (people i’ve never actually met face to face, here’s to hoping they’re not axe murderers…), and doing some photo shoots. i am SOOO stinking excited!

so, if you’re anywhere around there and we haven’t met or you’d like some pictures taken, i refer you to my photography site for more information on booking (i’ll be in portland on thursday, the 8th and tuesday the 13th, in and around medford the 9th – 12th). lets get this done people! i’d love to work with and meet as many of you as i can while i’m out there! i already get to meet brent and tam and their family as well as mandy, but there’s plenty of time to meet more of you! as i said my schedule is pretty flexible and i have some time in portland if there are people there who’d like to get some pictures there.

so far the only thing i know that i really want to do when i’m out there is see some redwoods. so one of the days i’ll be making a little road trip and doing some scenic photography (hopefully getting some wall art!). anyone have any other recommendations of things to check out while i’m there?

as far as food goes, i’m already rehearsing my line; “i’ll have what he’s having.” i believe strongly in “when in rome” so i’m going to let the people i’m staying with tell me what to eat/drink. be kind guys…

  • I finished cutting wood yesterday, so all our axes are stored now :)

    “i’ll have what he’s having.”

That might get you in trouble Haha!

  • Joshua, you are in for a great time. Our family vacation this year was to Crescent City, CA and Redding, CA. It was fantastic. I highly recommend you go to Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park in California to see some great old growth Redwoods. They were all facinating, but those in Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park were amazing. It isn’t that far from where you are staying either. Some other great things to do are Mt. Shasta, Klamath Falls, and Crater Lake (In full disclosure, I haven’t actually been to Klamath Falls or Crater Lake, but I was told by others that I made a big mistake by not going to see them – especially Crater Lake). Have a great time!

yes. definitely hit Jebediah! Crater Lake would be great but might be hard to get to with all the snow. Klamath Falls – um, well, its kinda the armpit of so. or. i wouldnt recommend it.

i think you’ll enjoy walking downtown ashland and through lithia park there. some very pretty views.

im so stoked for this trip. cant wait to meet you! wish your wife could come tho.

On your way South, you’ll pass Cottage Grove. I lived there for 30 years. It’s the Covered Bridge Capitol of Oregon. Great pics!!

  • Lori says:

Tam … agree about kfalls. lived there for 4 years while hubby was in college.

Crater Lake is beautiful! Also in Tulelake, cal there are the lava beds and klamath indians stand off things. They were pretty cool too
